With the first day of spring quickly approaching it’s soon becoming time to put your beloved deep burgundy and vampire red lipsticks back in their drawer. Or not. Do whatever you want, it’s your life man.

BUT, if you’re ready to kiss winter goodbye (*raises hand dramatically*) and embrace spring fully then you may want to consider updating your lipstick rotation. Just saying, girl!

I am personally a fan of any and all mauvey rose shades but I do try to push myself out of my comfort zone because you guys, the amount of lipsticks I own is outrageous. I’m not bragging or trying to sound cool, I’m just irresponsible with money. This is not to be envied. And I ONLY wear the mauvey rose shades! Wtf is wrong with me?!

Not this year though. 2018 is the year of trying new things (or trying the things you already own and barely use, you freak) and to celebrate the beginning of a new season I wanted to share with you my top ten spring lip products!

Also, I’m going to have to formally apologize for how ROUGH these lip swatches begin to look the darker the colors get. My lips were not pleased with my decision to take all of these (except for one) right after each other, wiping away the last lip product with a tissue and makeup remover. Don’t judge me.

Enjoy!

NUDES

Pure Hollywood-Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick ($20)

spring lipsticks

As a huge ABH fan, I’ve been reaching for this warm, mauvey (I know it’s not a word and I keep using it but let’s go with it, shall we?) undertoned beauty since it came out a few years ago. At least when I’m in the mood for a nude!

It has this almost plumping effect on the lips and always makes my measly top lip look like it exists, which is a thumbs up for me. I personally am not a huge fan of the ABH liquid lipsticks that come in darker shades (serious crumbling) but love the formula of the lighter colors. They stay on for hours and don’t feel as uncomfortable.

Fawn Over Me-Le Marc Liquid Lip Créme by Marc Jacobs ($28)

spring lipsticks

When these lip crémes (should I have written cream? Is créme plural??) came out I lost my MIND. I went back to Sephora three times to ultimately buy all of them. They are everything I want in a lipstick. They are long wearings, they’re shiny, they’re opaque, and they feel amazing on the lips. I want the longevity of a matte formula with the feel of a gloss. This is it.

Fawn Over Me is the perfect peachy nude that doesn’t wash out a horrendously pale gal like myself but is still light enough to fall within the spring nude category. She’s expensive yes, but totally worth it. Which just happens to also be my tinder bio.

Sugar Sugar-Enamored High Shine Lip Lacquer Lipgloss ($28)

Okay okay, I know this is the second high-end lip product in a row BUT hear me out. For you ladies who live for a great gloss but despise the sticky factor, you’ll be obsessed with the formula of Sugar Sugar.

Glossy and a gorgeous peachy nude shade, there’s a reason Sugar Sugar is a top seller. You don’t have to deal with mounds of your own hair (I mean, I hope it’s your own) getting stuck to your lips any time there’s a breeze and this shade can be easily layered over another lipstick to lighten it up if desired.

PINKS

Lovesick-Everlasting Liquid Lipstick by Kat Von D ($20)

spring lipsticks

Ugh. Now, THIS is a liquid lipstick I can get behind. Kat Von D is a liquid lipstick genius and I am so not mad about it.

Her lipsticks stay on from morning till the wee hours of the night (okay that may not be true, your girl crawls into bed around 9 pm most nights, but still) and simply do not budge. I don’t feel like I have sandpaper mouth (Is that a thing? I just made it a thing) after I take them off and the color selection is fab.

Lovesick is the prettiest rosy shade of pink and straight up screams spring. You need it. Trust me. It will look good on you.

Melted Peony-Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick by Too Faced ($21)

spring lipsticks

When I was going through my lipstick collection to prep for this post I realized I own an insane amount of Melted Too Faced lipsticks. When asked what my favorite lip products are I will usually mention Nars, Urban Decay, Marc Jacobs, etc. Why the hell am I not mentioning Too Faced? They sure have taken a lot of my money. They deserve a spot in my top faves!

Melted Peony is that bubblegum pink you think of when you think of spring but a little closer to your actual lip color. The formula is lightweight and has a decent lifespan. You will not be disappointed!

Please Me-Matte Lipstick by MAC ($18)

spring lipsticks

I’m throwing it back to my old flame, MAC. I use to be a MAC addict and would “casually” walk by the MAC counter on my lunch breaks and always “somehow” leave with a new lipstick or two. One of my old favorites that I plan on breaking out again this season is Please Me.

Please Me has almost a coral-like look to it with a rosy undertone. It’s a great lipstick to wear when you’re running out the door and the only other things you have time for are mascara and a messy bun. It makes you look pulled together and polished in seconds. Highly recommend.

BRIGHTS

K-Dub-Everlasting Liquid Lipstick by Kat Von D ($20)

spring lipsticks

To say that I am obsessed with this color is an understatement. It’s bold, it’s sassy, and it will break necks. PLUS it’s in that super fabulous Kat Von D formula I already told you about. PLUS it has blue undertones that maybe your teeth look white af.

The bright fuchsia shade will be your new go-to for a girl’s night out! No need to reach for red next time you’re feeling saucy with this pretty number!

Melted Violet-Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick by Too Faced ($21)

spring lipsticks

If you’re going for the true unicorn look (so on trend) then this gorgeous violet shade will brighten your day!

I love combining bold colors like this one with a neutral eye but I also think a monochromatic violet look would be effing legit. Either way, you can enjoy this whimsical pop of color as you dance through a field of daisies.

Too much?

Berry Strudel-Intense Butter Gloss by NYX ($7)

spring lipsticks

Okay, see? Not everything is expensive. And hey, your girl loves nice lipsticks. There are worse things to irresponsibly spend your money on.

Consider trading in your go-to deep red or so dark it’s practically black maroon for a new take on the night out lipstick: ultra violet.

Not only is it the color of the year but this Berry Strudel shade comes in the cult favorite formula; the butter gloss. This gloss is SO shiny and creamy and long wearing. You will love it and if the color scares you, hey, it’s only 7 bucks. YOLO!

Heart On-Matte Lippie Stix by ColourPop ($7)

spring lipsticks

Ah, finally, last but certainly not least the pretty and oh so clever Heart On. Do you get it? Like a penis?  Hilarious.

I’m sorry dad. (This isn’t a joke, he really reads my stuff. Yikes.)

Another price friendly option from the one and only ColourPop! Heart On is a gorgeous magenta shade that comes in their matte formula but to be honest it doesn’t feel very matte at all. Their actual liquid lipsticks are matte af and are amazing, but their lippie stix are more like a long-wearing traditional lipstick. Which I like!

This color is totally perfect for a day-date or even better: a lady lunch date that ends in champagne and shopping!
