I really don’t care what any of you have to say, I have the best mom ever. Juuuuust kidding (I’m not though)!

I love that meme that floats around the internet this time of year that says “My mom deserves a desert island but all I can afford is a candle” because it’s so relatable. Even if you can afford more than a candle there just still never seems to be a gift good enough for our moms. Other than the whole carrying us around inside of them for 9+ months (or adopting us and giving us a home! Or other means of attaining a baby!) thing they also raise us and bake us banana bread and clean up all of our messes and just deal with our annoying shit in general.

My mom is absolutely my best friend. I mean, I totally live by The Mindy Project quote “best friend is not a person, it’s a tier” but my mom is the real deal.

She is so incredibly smart and hilarious and multi-talented (a home decor extraordinaire, musician, fantastic cook, and wine stain removing expert!). Getting to spend time with her is such a treat and I feel so lucky to live only 40 minutes away from her. We have cocktails (she makes this grapefruit/lemon vodka situation that is FAB!), gossip and fall asleep watching romcoms.

Everyone who meets my mom falls in love with her because above all, she is a lovely human being who has taught me what it means to be generous, selfless and kind. I really hope that I’m turning into half the woman she is because if so, I’m going to be a CATCH!

Alright, enough bragging! Today I wanted to share 3 DIY Mother’s Day ideas that are perfect for you if you totally forgot to get something for your mom (you suck) or are short on dolla dolla bills OR if you just aren’t good at doing nice things for people. While I’m sure your mom would love a massage gift card or wine subscription or a new fabulous pair of shoes if she’s anything like my mom she probably would just love to spend time with you most of all.

Check out my 3 last minute DIY Mother’s Day ideas below!

1. DREAMY MOTHER’S DAY BRUNCH

Thinks mimosas. Frittatas. Scones. Fresh Flowers. Everything that makes brunch magical, except all in your mom’s honor!

Give the nice lady a break and treat her to a fun meal with plenty of treats and laughter. The best part about this idea is that you can invite all of the special moms in your life. French toast for everyone!

My mom is the Queen of entertaining and growing up I would always know that if we were having company over for dinner to STAY OUT OF HER WAY. She would be a complete ball of stress, running around the house like a psycho (love ya mom), cleaning and cooking and telling me to NOT TOUCH ANYTHING. And she wanted zero help.

I feel like this is a common crazy mom trait so take the stress away and plan a fun little party for her! It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant, she’ll love it no matter what. Hopefully.

2. VIEWS & ROSÉ

Got yourself an active mom? Take her on a scenic hike in your area and then cool off with a crisp glass of white wine (moms love a good chardonnay) or a fruity rosé.

I would personally take my mom to Lands End here in SF because it’s an easy hike and has a truly breathtaking view of the bay and Golden Gate Bridge. Then I would take her to a cute spot like Mission Cheese for some bubbly! And cheese. Duh.

You could also bring a bottle of wine and some snacks with you to have a cute post-hike picnic!

3. YOUR OWN PAINT & SIP NIGHT

Okay, I am realizing that a lot of all of my ideas involve alcohol BUT that’s just because your girl (and your girl’s mom) love wine more than life itself. You can absolutely substitute all the booze for sparkling water/more cheese. Whatever floats your boat!

That being said, is there anything cuter than sipping on something tasty while learning to paint?! It’s got “mom” written all over it!

While you can definitely do some research and find a Paint & Sip Night in your area, you could also totally do it at home, DIY style! Invite some of your other favorite moms over, find a youtube tutorial to guide you, put on some tunes and you’re in business!

Like my casual use of the word “tunes”? Very mom of me, I know.

The best part? Your painting can also double as a gift for mamacita!
