There are some Sundays where you wake up and you’re stunned that you even made it through the week. You just lie in bed staring at the ceiling and thinking “I’m alive?”. You’ve been fighting for your life (and sanity) since Monday and you finally made it. Okay, maybe this is a little dramatic, BUT after a long week of exams, 9 hour shifts and the million other things I need to get done, Sundays are the closest thing I can get to a vacation. And while I love a fun day at the beach, or a morning full of mimosas, just as much as the next guy, sometimes the thing I need the most is a relaxing Sunday in. Here are my 5 favorites ways to spend a Sunday in:

1. CATCH UP ON YOUR TO DO LIST
Okay, so this might not sounds relaxing, but hear me out. If you’re anything like me then you know how frustrating it is to watch all of the little things fall by the wayside while you’re running around like a chicken with its head cut off. For me it’s usually the state of my apartment. As I run around getting ready every morning I constantly add things to my mental to do list. Need to clean my makeup brushes. Need to clean my shower. Need to put my laundry away. Need to do this and that but there is never any time. So sometimes Sundays are the perfect day to blast a good playlist and knock a few things off of your list so you can stop losing your mind during the week. For me the makeup brushes and the laundry are always on my list. Clearly:

2. PAMPER YOURSELF
Another thing that drives me crazy during a hectic week is looking down at my destroyed nail beds or checking out a breakout in the mirror. Obviously there are more important things to worry about during the week, which is why sometimes taking a Sunday to pamper yourself is just what you need. Cleaning up my nails and enjoying one of my favorite face masks always makes me feel ten times better.

Bath and Body Works has a great line for manicures and pedicures. I always use their 60-Second Manicure Hand Scrub ($12) to exfoliate my hands and their Cracked Heel Treatment ($20) to moisturize and heal my admittedly disgraceful feet. Julep has a great Moisture Mask Trio ($6.99) for your nails, feet and hands that will repair and rehydrate your skin. Finally, my BH Cosmetics nail care set and files ($0.95) are my go-tos when cleaning up my nails beds. Find them all at the links listed at the end of this post!

We all have different skin types that have different needs. I have combination skin so I experience all the pleasures of both dry and oily skin. It’s awesome. Depending on the state of my skin, I either grab one of these two face masks. The First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Purifying Mask with Red Clay ($30) saves my skin when I have a bad breakout or am just feeling especially oily. It pulls all of the impurities to the surface and makes my skin feel so clean and soft after I peel it off. That’s another thing, it’s a peel-off mask. Which are super fun. And also way less clean up because you don’t have to use water to get it off. If you have the opposite problem and are in serious need of some hydration try the Glam Glow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment ($69). It’s pretty pricey, but it’s definitely for good reason. You can put it on for 20 minutes during the day and wash it off, or you can do what I do and put it on before you go to bed and wake up in the morning with the most delicious skin imaginable. Seriously, my skin has never felt better. It feels so hydrated and healthy after I use this mask. Even if you have oily skin you should try this, because it will give you all of the moisture your skin need and will prevent it from producing too much oil. And if you’re still not convinced that it’s worth the price, pick up a sample size ($19). These two are also listed in the links below!!

3. BINGE WATCH TV AND ORDER IN
Does anything sound better than literally just laying in bed all day, eating and catching up on your favorite shows? If it wasn’t totally socially unacceptable I would spend every day like this. It combines two of my favorite activities. Here are three of my favorite shows to have a marathon with and three of my favorite restaurants to order in from if you’re in SF:

TV SHOWS:
1. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (Day Man, anyone?)
2. Gilmore Girls (Eat fatty foods while watching a TV show about two women who eat fatty foods while watching TV)
3. The Walking Dead (Because blood and brains are appetizing right?)

RESTAURANTS:
1. Big Lantern on 16th and Guerrero if you love Chinese. Their meatless chicken is shockingly delicious.
2. Spicy Bite is tasty Indian food that you can find on Mission St. Butter chicken and Naan are my predictable but nevertheless go-to favorites.
3. Sophia’s Pizzeria on Ocean is open until 3am and goes heavy on the cheese, light on the sauce, which is always my preference. Quick delivery too!

4. CATCH UP ON YOUR READING LIST
As a student, I almost never read for pleasure. I end up just feeling guilty because I’m spending time reading for fun instead of reading that 60 page “article” for that one class that I always fall asleep in. But Sundays are the perfect day to curl up with an old favorite or knock a new book off of your list, guilt free. Here are a few on my list:

1. Fashion/Beauty books:
After a long week of school and work, there’s nothing better than something totally mindless and fun (not to mention a topic I actually enjoy) to help me unwind. I’ve been reading the Lauren Conrad books Style and Beauty and I have to say, she’s got it going on. They’re packed full of fun tips and tricks that any beauty and fashion lover will appreciate. I also am looking forward to reading Michelle Phan’s Make Up: Your Life Guide to Beauty, Style, and Success Online and Off.

2. Hilarious reads:
I am eternally obsessed with Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, so naturally I had to buy both of their memoirs. And I haven’t stopped laughing. I’m almost finished with Tina Fey’s Bossypants and can’t wait to dive into Amy Poehler’s Yes Please next.

Give some of these super low key, non-productive (for the most part), lazy day activities a try! And let me know how you like to spend your Sundays in the comments below!
